Interview with Retiring Senator Kent Conrad (D-ND)

Washington, DC
Wednesday, December 26, 2012

Senate Budget Committee chairman Kent Conrad is retiring from the Senate at the end of this year after 26 years in office. Earlier this month, the North Dakota Democratic Senator talked about the current partisanship in the Senate as well as his time in working on economic issues including his service on the Bowles-Simpson Commission.

Senator Conrad also said House members should serve for four years at a time instead of two in order to “get things done that aren’t immediately popular.” This 30-minute interview took place inside the Senate Budget Committee hearing room in the Dirksen Senate Office Building.
