The Senate Banking Committee heard from the Inspector General of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, which oversees Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The two government-sponsored-entities have come under scrutiny for what they pay their executives and what steps they're taking to minimize their dependence on taxpayer money.
FHFA Director Edward DeMarco testified at a hearing in November on these subjects, telling the same committee that he supported the current compensation plan for Fannie and Freddie executives, though he "understands the concerns of Congress."
