Lawmakers Examine Computerized Trading Regulations

Washington, DC
Tuesday, December 18, 2012

The Senate Banking Subcommittee on Securities and Investments held a hearing on the increase of off-exchange trading. This practice is often referred to as “dark pool trading” or the buying or selling of large quantities of stocks in private exchanges.

The Executive VP and Head of U.S. Entities of the NYSE Euronext, Joe Mecane and Eric Noll, the Nasdaq’s Transaction Services Vice President, were among those who testified.

Senator Jack Reed chairs the subcommittee. Senator Mike Crapo serves as the Ranking Member.
