A bipartisan group of lawmakers held a news conference to urge the "super committee" to "go big," recommending deficit reduction beyond the $1.2 trillion required.
House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD), Rep. Mike Simpson (R-ID), Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) and Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) are attending the news conference to press the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction to create a "big" and "balanced" plan to reduce the deficit. Forty-five Senators and 102 Representatives of both parties signed letters to the "super committee" asking them to cut more than $1.2 trillion from the deficit.
The Joint Deficit Reduction Committee or "super committee" is tasked with submitting a deficit reduction plan to the full Congress by November 23rd.
