Lincoln-Douglas Debate Reenactment

Washington, DC
Saturday, August 20, 2011

In 1858, incumbent U.S. Senator Stephen Douglas and the Republican challenger for his Senate seat, Abraham Lincoln, held a series of seven debates around the state of Illinois.

In 1994, a re-enactment of those historic debates was held in each of the original seven towns. Next from Ottawa, Illinois is first of the seven re-enacted debates.
