Historians discuss the Dakota War of 1862. The conflict in Minnesota resulted in the mass execution by hanging of 38 Dakota men. The participants discuss the actions of General Henry Sibly and the decision by President Lincoln to commute the death sentences of 264 condemned Dakotas. The Lincoln Group of the District of Columbia, and the US Capitol Historical Society hosted this event.
