Join us this weekend on C-SPAN2's Book TV and C-SPAN3's American History TV  as we explore the literary life and history of Augusta, Maine.

All weekend long on Book TV you will see interviews with local authors and hear about special collections and the literary culture of Augusta, and on American History TV (AHTV) we’ll take you to different historic sites as we learn about Maine's capitol city.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicle staff traveled to Augusta this summer to gather this programming and also worked with our Time Warner Cable partners to visit schools and meet with local officials while there.

The Maine State Library Special Collections and learn about their 1st edition copy of the Book of Mormon (published 1830), Comfort Magazine (the 1st magazine to reach a million subscribers), and the collection of pictures and writings from Myron Avery, creator of the Appalachian Trail.

The life and career of Oliver Otis Howard through his collection of letters, pictures and writings housed at Bowdoin College.  Oliver Otis Howard –1850 graduate of Bowdoin College – was a career United States Army officer, Union general in the American Civil War and founder of Howard University.
