Washington, DC
Thursday, November 22, 2012

Two Medal of Honor recipients from the Vietnam War and the war in Afghanistan talk about why they joined the military and some of their experiences abroad. The Medal of Honor is the highest U.S. military honor and is usually presented by the President of the United States.

General James Livingston received the Medal of Honor for his service in the Vietnam War. Staff Sergeant Salvatore Giunta received his for the war in Afghanistan.

Moderator Jerry Dumont also asked the recipients about the role of women serving in the armed services and how their military training helped them as they faced combat.
