First Lady Michelle Obama traveled to Virginia on Friday, where she spoke to supporters in Hampton and Petersburg. During the events, she spoke about what's at stake in the election and encouraged voters to get to the polls on election day.
The event in Petersburg was held at Virginia State University's Daniel Gymnasium. According to an article in the Progress-Index, a Petersburg paper, the first lady is "the only high-profile visit in the Petersburg area during the 2012 campaign."
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has recently taken the lead in state polls, but a CBS/NYT/Quinnipiac poll released on Wednesday shows President Obama leading, 49%-47%.
