Minority Leader Pelosi and House Democrats on Violence Against Women Act

Washington, DC
Wednesday, January 23, 2013

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) discussed efforts to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act.  Senate Democrats could vote on the reintroduced legislation today.

The bill was up for consideration last year but was blocked in the House by the Republican leadership.  The Violence Against Women Act was signed into law back in 1994 and has been reauthorized by Congress twice since.
