Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney visited Carter Machinery in Salem, Virginia on Tuesday as part of a two day visit to the swing state. The south-western Virginia company manufactures equipment for the coal industry.
President Obama carried Virginia in the 2008 election by 6.3 percent. A recent Qunnipiac Poll shows Obama with a 5-point lead in the state. The state voted Republican in all other presidential elections since 1968.
On Wednesday, Romney will travel to Sterling in Northern Virginia.
