Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Chairman Allison Macfarlane will hold a media breakfast to discuss short- and long-term objectives at her agency.
Chairman Macfarlane discussed her positions on storing nuclear waste at Yucca Mountain and safety issues at a California nuclear plant. She also reiterated her efforts to move ahead with new safety recommendations after the 2011 Japanese earthquake.
Macfarlane was confirmed in June by the Senate. The former George Mason University Professor replaced Greg Jaczko, who announced his resignation several months after damaging allegations surfaced about his management style.
