The National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill wrapped-up its third series of meetings as it continues its investigation into last April’s Gulf of Mexico oil rig explosion. During a panel discussion, National Geographic Editor in Chief Chris Johns discussed the legacy of the Mississippi and said that if the Gulf region continues on its current path, “New Orleans will be an island by 2100.”
