National Urban League Releases “The State of Black America 2012” Report

Washington, DC
Wednesday, May 2, 2012

The National Urban League's new report, “The State of Black America 2012,” focuses on the link between education and economic development and raises the concern that Congressional cut-backs for these programs will hurt minority communities.

During this event, the speakers focus on voter participation in the African American community and new voting laws in 34 states.  The  National Urban League report concludes that many of these new laws are disguised voter suppression tactics.

Speakers include: Marc Morial, National Urban League President & CEO; Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MS), Congressional Black Caucus Chairman; Janet Murguia, National Council of La Raza President & CEO; and Benjamin Jealous, NAACP President & CEO.
