This week on Newsmakers, our guest is the new chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, Gov. Peter Shumlin of Vermont. He discusses key state issues, including employment and the Affordable Care Act, as well as the "fiscal cliff," and laying the groundwork for the 2013 and 2014 elections.
There are two Governors races in 2013, New Jersey and Virginia, and 34 Governors races occur in 2014. In 2012, Democrats won 8 of the 11 gubernatorial races, and they hold 19 of the 50 governorships. Republicans hold 30 governors’ offices, and there is one independent.
