Newt Gingrich Makes His Case to Iowa Newspaper

Des Moines, Iowa
Thursday, December 15, 2011

GOP Presidential contender Newt Gingrich sat down for an interview with the editorial board of the Des Moines Register. The former House Speaker is the last candidate to meet with the paper's staff before they decide which candidate to endorse in the upcoming caucus.

The Register invited all of the major presidential candidates to meet with their editorial board and writers covering the race. The candidates who were interviewed included former Massabusetts Governor Mitt Romney, Texas Governor Rick Perry, former Sen. Rick Santorum as well as Reps. Michele Bachmann and Ron Paul.

Gingrich is ahead of his closest rivals, Mitt Romney and Ron Paul, in the latest polls.

The newspaper plans to make an endorsement in the Republican presidential race this Sunday, December 18, two weeks before the Iowa Caucuses on January 3, 2012.
