Obama Aide at 'Politics & Eggs,' Reagan Library to feature Gov. Christie

Axelrod says President's re-election a "titanic struggle"

Washington, DC
Tuesday, September 27, 2011

Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) addressed an audience tonight at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California in a lecture titled "Perspectives on Leadership."  Former first lady Nancy Reagan appeared with Gov. Christie.  Tomorrow,  the Governor will remain in California to attend several fundraisers for the New Jersey Republican Party. And on Thursday he will travel to Baton Rouge, LA, to rally for Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal (R).

One of President Obama's senior campaign strategists said this morning that the President faces a "titanic struggle" in his effort to get re-elected.

David Axelrod spoke to business leaders gathered for a "Politics and Eggs" breakfast in Manchester. “We don’t have the wind at our backs this election,” the former White House senior adviser said. “We have the wind in our face because the American people have the wind in their faces. This is going to be a titanic struggle.”

Politics and Eggs, which began in 1996, is a regular stop for presidential candidates. John McCain, Joe Biden, John Kerry, George W. Bush & Al Gore are among the past participants.

This year, Politics & Eggs has hosted Republican Presidential Candidates Gov. Rick Perry and former Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who has since dropped out of the race. The event was co-hosted by the New England Council & New Hampshire Institute of Politics.
