Author Joshua Kendall examines the lives and achievements of several iconic figures that shaped America’s history. He argues that these “super achievers” suffered from obsessive-compulsive personality disorder, and were able to channel their eccentric behavior to achieve great things. He also looks at their childhood and key factors behind their success. In this program, some of the figures we hear about are Apple's co-founder Steve Jobs, baseball slugger Ted Williams, librarian Melvil Dewey, and cosmetics entrepreneur Estee Lauder. The New York Public Library hosted this event.
