In addressing the shooting which took place in Colorado, President Obama said that "There will be other days for politics. This is a day for prayer and reflection." The President was wrapping up a two-day campaign tour in Florida, but because of the incident in Colorado he canceled campaigning and is returning to the White House.
The President was scheduled to hold rallies in Ft. Myers and Winter Park, Florida. Campaign events with Vice President Biden and Michele Obama were also canceled.
In his campaign stops yesterday, the President discussed the choice in the election between two fundamentally different visions of how to grow the economy, create middle-class jobs and pay down the debt.
The President repeated his call on Congress to act now to give middle-class families some certainty by preventing a scheduled tax increase on 98 percent of Americans, including families across Florida. He has already cut taxes for a typical Florida family by $3,400 over four years helping families afford to send their children to college, buy their first home, pay for health care and child care."
