President Obama Delivers Statement on Connecticut School Shooting

President Obama made a statement to the press on the elementary school shooting that happened Friday morning in Newtown, Conn. News reports indicate that 20 children are among the 26 dead. The gunman died at the scene.

The President said that it is time for the country to “take meaningful action” after today’s tragedy. 

He was first notified by Homeland Security Adviser John Brennan this morning and has ordered flags lowered to half-staff in mark of respect for the victims.
