President Obama Remarks at National Council of La Raza Conference

Washington, DC
Monday, July 25, 2011

Immigration was the top topic as President Obama addressed the National Council of La Raza annual conference in Washington, DC.

The president asked for La Raza’s support and called on Hispanic activists to build a movement outside of Washington pushing for immigration reform.  He reiterated his support to change the nation’s immigration laws and the Dream Act, a bill that gives conditional permanent residency to illegal alien students who came to the U.S. as minors with their parents. The National Council of La Raza is the largest Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S.
