Continuing his campaign for legislation that would prevent student loan interest rates from doubling in July, President Obama speaks to high school juniors and seniors and their parents from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, Virginia.
The House of Representatives passed a bill last week that would keep the rates from doubling, but drew a veto threat from the President when the Republican leadership said that they would pay for it by cutting funding to a women's health program.
"We shouldn't have to choose between women having health care and students keeping their interest rates low," the President told the crowd.
President Obama is urging the Senate to pass a version of the bill that he would be willing to sign, so that the House and Senate can work on reconciling the two bills.
