President Obama Visits Chicago to Discuss Economy

Washington, DC
Friday, February 15, 2013

President Obama wrapped up his three-city, post State of the Union tour with a stop at the Hyde Park Academy in Chicago. He visited Asheville, N.C. on Wednesday and Atlanta on Thursday to discuss some of the proposals he made in his speech.

Along with his prescriptions for a stronger middle class, he addressed the issue of gun violence. In the State of the Union, he asked Congress to vote on his gun violence prevention proposals, citing the mass school shooting in Newtown, Conn., along with the death of a 15-year-old girl in Chicago just a week after she performed in the Inauguration Parade.
