New York Times Visual Op-Ed columnist Charles Blow sat down with C-SPAN to explain his unique job, in which he uses graphs and charts to write opinion pieces. His articles cover a range of topics including dating, childhood obesity, life in large cities, acceptance of homosexuals in society, and President Obama.

During the interview, Mr. Blow provided examples of his work, and relate how he approaches the subject with the visual aids.

Before becoming a columnist, he served as the publication’s graphic designer. He has also worked for National Geographic magazine as Art  Director.
