George Beall was the U.S. Attorney for Maryland and headed up the investigation that led to Vice President Spiro Agnew’s 1973 resignation.
Agnew served under President Nixon.
On October 10th 1973, he resigned the Vice Presidency and pleaded no contest to criminal charges of tax evasion for accepting bribes during his tenure as governor of Maryland.
