Role of Mormonism in the 2012 Presidential Campaign

Washington, DC
Tuesday, March 13, 2012

With GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney's religious beliefs frequently discussed this primary season, a panel of political experts meet for a candid discussion on the role Mormanism is playing during the GOP's 2012 primary season.

In a coversation at Boston College, panelists talk about the GOP candidates’ religions and the struggles facing Romney based on his pragmatic approach to Mormonism.

Political science Professor Alan Wolfe joins Kristine Haglund, editor of "Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought." Boston University Professor of Religion Stephen Prothero also participates.

Mitt Romney's December 2007 speech on religious freedom was widely praised, but he presented a different position when compared to John F. Kennedy's 1960 speech to Houston religious leaders.
