Sec. Sebelius, Senate Dems Promote New Health Care Provisions for Women

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius joins a number of Senate Democrats Tuesday on Capitol Hill to promote women’s health provisions from the health care law that go into effect Wednesday, August 1.

The new coverage provisions are largely for preventative care services, including annual breast exams, prenatal care and contraception.

Senators Barbara A. Mikulski (D-MD), Tom Harkin (D-IA), Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ), Ben Cardin (D-MD), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) attended.

They werel joined by representatives of the National Women’s Law Center, the National Partnership for Women and Families and cancer survivor and American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network volunteer Anne Creech.
