Secretaries Panetta and Shinseki Briefing on DoD-V.A. Collaboration

Washington, DC
Thursday, December 6, 2012

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta reiterated that the Syrian government would face "serious consequences" if it used weapons of mass destruction against rebels.  His remarks came at a joint briefing with Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki on joint V.A.-Pentagon efforts to assist military personnel re-entering civilian life.

The two also discussed the impact that sequestration would have on veterans if no agreement is reached on the so-called fiscal cliff.
