Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano on Thursday said the department has made great progress in improving surveillance and technology at the border, but calls on lawmakers to change immigration laws, including the path to citizenship, that better match the demographic and needs of the country.
Secretary Napolitano joined Wilson Center Director Jane Harman in a discussion on DHS priorities in President Obama’s second term. In addition, she discussed the need for new legislation and mitigation measures in tackling cybersecurity.
The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and the Aspen Institute Homeland Security Group hosted the discussion.
