Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus Monday did not reveal any details about a his ideas for changing the U.S. tax code, but he did say his committee is “making progress” on a proposal. He said the Committee would be meeting next week to look at so-called tax extenders, provisions in the code that benefit particular sectors of the economy.
Speaking at the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington, Chairman Baucus said revenue must be part of tax reform efforts.
His remarks are followed by a panel including former Republican Ways and Means Committee Chairman Bill Thomas and former White House Budget Director Alice Rivlin.
