Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) participated in a discussion on U.S. and global intelligence gathering abilities and security issues.
In her remarks, she said that Iran and its nuclear program could be cataclysmic for the entire Middle East and it is the number one security issue right now. Other topics addressed included the ongoing violence and political unrest in Syria, U.S.-Pakistan relations, White House intelligence leaks and cyber security.
As chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, Sen. Feinstein has critical oversight of the CIA and the NSA, and other committee assignments that focus on defense, immigration and border control. Her speech Monday at the World Affairs Council is being touted as a major foreign policy address.
Sen. Feinstein was introduced by the President of the Northrop Grumman Corporation Wes Bush. And later, Bloomberg News' John Walcott moderated a question and answers segment following the Senator's speech.
