On the day after Rep. Ron Paul announced he would end active campaigning for President, his son Sen. Rand Paul and author Brian Doherty talked about the 2012 presidential race and his new book, "Ron Paul’s Revolution: The Man and the Movement He Inspired." The event took place at the CATO Institute in Washington, DC.

Brian Doherty, senior editor at Reason magazine examines the political career of Ron Paul, twelve-term Republican Representative from Texas and three-time candidate for President. The author reports on Rep. Paul’s political ideologies that range across partisan lines. Mr. Doherty posits it is this idiosyncratic approach to political thinking that has brought Rep. Paul impassioned supporters who previously felt unrepresented in Washington. Mr. Doherty is the author of several books, including “Radicals for Capitalism: A History of the Modern American Libertarian Movement.”

Following Mr. Doherty's talk, Rep. Paul's son, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) spoke to the audience about the state of 2012 Presidential race.

Monday, Ron Paul released a statement ending active campaigning for President. “Our campaign will continue to work in the state convention process. We will continue to take leadership positions, win delegates, and carry a strong message to the Republican National Convention that Liberty is the way of the future," he said. "Moving forward, however, we will no longer spend resources campaigning in primaries in states that have not yet voted."

Tuesday, Ron Paul's chief strategist Jesse Benton outlined the campaign's strategy for the Republican National Convention in August in a memo and also held a conference call with reporters.
