The Senate was in for a short session where it accepted by unanimous consent the deal with House Republicans over the two-month payroll tax holiday extension that House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) agreed to yesterday. It adopts the Senate's short term extension in exchange for the Senate appointing negotiators to work out a longer-term agreement once Congress returns from its holiday break.
