Senate Banking Cmte. Hearing on the Credit Union Industry
Washington, DC
Thursday, December 9, 2010
The Senate Banking Committee listened to National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Chairman Debbie Matz on the state of the credit union industry. This was her first appearance as the sole witness during her chairmanship. While the economic downturn propelled the corporate credit union crisis in 2008, there were steps that could have been taken which might have prevented its effect. Lawmakers examined current government regulations and self-imposed efforts by the industry to protect against any future crisis.
