The Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee held a hearing to assess federal efforts and small business recovery assistance in response to Hurricane Sandy.
The committee focused on small business disaster loan accountability. According to the Small Business Administration (SBA), Hurricane Sandy has spurred 28,000 homeowner loan applications and over 4,000 business loan applications.
Witnesses included: Michael Chodos, associate administrator of the SBA's Office of Entrepreneurial Development; James Rivera, associate administrator of the SBA's Office of Disaster Assistance; Hoboken, New Jersey, Mayor Dawn Zimmer; James King, state director of the New York State Small Business Development Center; and Kevin Law, president and CEO of the Long Island Association.
Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) chaired the hearing.
