EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson testified on Capitol Hill on the agency’s rules to limit a pair of toxic chemicals that have been found in public water supplies. The chemicals chromium-6 and perchlorate have recently been found in drinking water supplies in California and across the country.
Chromium-6 is the same chemical that was discovered by Erin Brockovich in the groundwater in Hinkley, California through her case against Pacific Gas and Electric Company. Administrator Jackson and water company officials were at a Senate Environment and Public Works Committee oversight hearing on drinking water safety. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) chairs the committee.
