Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee Hearing on China's Role in Africa

The Senate Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on African Affairs held a hearing on China’s foreign aid in Africa.

Subcommittee Chairman Chris Coons (D-DE) warned of the growing influence of China in Africa.  He noted that while the U.S. invests mainly in African health care, China invests in infrastructure and “is winning the battle of hearts and minds.”  Witnesses include former U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia and Burkina Faso David Shinn.
