Senate Historian Discusses Presidential Inaugurations

Senate historian Don Ritchie gave a historical perspective on inaugurations, and explains why Congress hosts the inauguration. The audience is interns from around the country and is hosted by the Washington Center.

He spoke about why Congress hosts the presidential inauguration and tell stories that range from the presidencies of George Washington to Barack Obama.

Up to eight hundred thousand people are expected to be come to Washington, DC for President Obama’s second inauguration on Monday.
