South Korea's President Lee Myung-bak is in Washington to enhance already strong diplomatic ties between the two countries. Both President Lee and President Obama are touting a new era of cooperation as Congress passed a long-stalled free trade agreement Wednesday.
While in Washington, President Lee met with President Obama and the two leaders held a joint news conference. President Lee also spoke to a joint meeting of Congress, and attended a state dinner is his honor at the White House this evening.
On Friday, President Obama and President Lee will travel to Lake Orion, Michigan, where they will tour General Motors Orion Assembly and make remarks on the trade agreement, which is said to open up economic opportunities and support jobs on both sides of the Pacific.
