NASA's ability to manage its facilities is the subject of a House Science Space Subcommittee hearing, chaired by Rep. Steven Palazzo (R-MS). Witnesses include NASA's inspector general Paul K. Martin and the agency's associate deputy administrator Richard Keegan.
The subcommittee will determine whether the lack of a comprehensive roadmap for human spaceflight is undermining NASA's ability to manage its facilities and infrastructure. Members will consider proposed legislation to give the agency more flexibility to address these issues.
The hearing will also examine a 2012 NASA report on maintenance costs for outdated or unneeded facilities held by the agency.
