Stanford University hosts a debate on whether or not the Affordable Care Act is constitutional. The debate, featuring Profs. Randy Barnett of Georgetown University School of Law, and Pamela Karlan of Stanford Law School, was part of an all-day symposium entitled: “Bureaucracy Unbound: Can Limited Government and the Administrative State Co-Exist?”
The Hon. Sandra Ikuta, of the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, serves as moderator for the debate, which happened earlier this month.
The debate focuses on the constitutionality of the act, with specific attention given to administrative law issues, including the constitutionality of compliance waivers and of medical expert boards.
One of the debaters, Randy Bartlett, is a lawyer representing one of the Plaintiffs in the Supreme Court case to be heard at the end of the month.
