Justice Roberts Discusses Constitutional Law

Houston, Texas
Thursday, October 18, 2012

In October, Chief Justice Roberts was at Rice University in Houston, where he addressed students at the university, touching on issues ranging from challenges to the Constitution to his favorite movie. In his remarks, Roberts stated that reporters are too quick to label Supreme Court Justices as liberal or conservative.

The Chief Justice said that he was surprised when he joined the Court on how well the justices get along and remarked that there is no “intellectual bullying” or a voice “raised in anger” during the conference when Justices talk about the cases.

Additionally, Rice University President and fellow Harvard Alum David Leebron introduced Chief Justice Roberts and held a one of one conversation with him.
