C-SPAN and the White House Historical Association (WHHA) are partnering on a new, two-season original series, "First Ladies: Influence and Image." The first-of-its-kind project for television examines the private and public lives of first ladies from Martha Washington to Michelle Obama.
This afternoon, the WHHA hosted a discussion at the National Center for White House History, at the Decatur House, on the topic of first ladies.
The panels examined the historical legacy of individual first ladies and the role of recent first ladies in managing social events at the White House and their working relationship with the various staffs that keep the White House running.
