The Presidency: The Legacy and Influence of America's First Ladies

Washington, DC
Sunday, December 18, 2011

The first of three Texas conferences on America’s first ladies was held recently at the George Bush Presidential Library. The George W. Bush and Lyndon B. Johnson presidential libraries will host the next two conferences in 2012.

Over the next hour and fifteen minutes, we’ll hear about the evolving influence and political power of first ladies from the director of the Eleanor Roosevelt Papers, the curator of the Smithsonian’s first ladies’ exhibit, and the eldest daughter of President Johnson and Lady Bird Johnson.

This event was organized by Anita McBride, former Chief of Staff to First Lady Laura Bush.
