Three weeks after Rep. Peter King, (R-NY) held a House hearing on the radicalization of American Muslims, a Senate Judiciary subcommittee held a hearing on protecting the civil right of American Muslims.
According to the committee, the hearing, “was in response to the spike in anti-Muslim bigotry in the last year including Koran burnings, restrictions on mosque construction, hate crimes, hate speech, and other forms of discrimination,”
Witnesses included Farhana Khera, a Muslim civil rights activist, Cardinal Theodore E. McCarrick, along with current and former government civil rights officials.
