The U.S. Economy and the Middle Class

Washington, DC
Friday, December 7, 2012

Most Americans believe the country is moving in the right direction according to a new Allstate-National Journal opinion poll released Friday. The poll focuses on the concerns of middle class Americans and the top things on America’s “to do” list. It showed sharp divides along racial lines with most Americans agreeing that the debt and deficit are top of the list.

National Journal’s Ron Brownstein and House Budget Committee Member Allyson Schwartz talked about the fiscal cliff, whether Democrats and Republicans will reach a compromise before the deadline and other big issues on the agenda.

Additional  panels included representatives from business, think tanks and academia to discuss the poll’s results, middle class perspectives on the economy and the fiscal cliff.
