This Fourth of July weekend American History TV is examining the lives and accomplishments of America’s Founders.

University of Richmond Professor Woody Holton discusses Thomas Jefferson’s motivations for writing the Declaration of Independence and the groups that influenced him.

Woody Holton is the author of “Unruly Americans and the Origins of the Constitution and Abigail Adams.”  This hour long talk was titled, “Thomas Jefferson as a Revolutionary: Leader or Follower” and was delivered at Monticello.
