U.N. Secretary General Speaks at Sustainable Energy Forum

U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon was the keynote speaker Friday at the Center for Global Development’s forum on renewable and sustainable energy development.

The Denmark Minister for Development Cooperation Christian Friis Bach also gave a keynote address.

United Nations Foundation and Better World Fund President Timothy Wirth and World Bank  Director of Energy Vijay Iyer participated in a panel discussion on "Sustainable Energy for All and Rio+20."

Following that, U.S. Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs Carlos Pascual and former EPA Administrator William Reilly discuss the topic "From Rio to Rio+20: A U.S. Perspective."

The event comes ahead of the Rio+20 U.N. Conference this June. World leaders and government officials will meet in Brazil June 20-22 to discuss how developing a green economy can help reduce poverty.
