U.S. Ambassador to China Discusses China's New Leader

At the end of the 18th Communist Party Congress in November, Xi Jinping assumed control of the party and the Chinese military, replacing outgoing President Hu Jintao. U.S. Ambassador to China Gary Locke discussed the impact of China's new leader on the U.S.-China relationship.

Ambassador Locke spoke with Orville Schell, the Arthur Ross Director of the Asia Society's Center on U.S.-China Relations, and ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos.

The panel is one of the Asia Society's "Beyond the Headlines" discussions.
