The U.S. Coast Guard and Bureau of Energy Management held their fifth series of hearings investigating the Deepwater Horizon explosion on April 20th. The first panel of witnesses related the immediate responses after the gas explosion aboard the ship. During the second panel, Smit Salvage Americas President Doug Martin testified that BP hindered the company’s efforts to stop the flow of oil into the Gulf of Mexico.
